Contagion spreads across Europe

by richard

The R.A.T.7 Albino has been a popular version of the Guiness award-winning "world's most configurable mouse" however, those of you who live outside of the U.S., Canada, Germany, France and the UK were unable to get one.  We do listen to you though so we have now released the R.A.T. Contagion and this one has gone much wider, as befits its name.  The guys at Apple loved this mouse so much that they've listed it on many of their online stores across Europe (and in the U.S. too) and they're live right now - so if you've been holding out for a white R.A.T. (and, judging by our emails, there's been a lot of people in Hungary who do) then check out the links below:

Hi,

Yes, we're aware of this - we'll fix it with the next release.  In the meantime it won't cause any issues with your PC.

I've never actually played a MMORPG game before, but the Cyborg M.M.O. 7 gaming mouse still has my attention; it would be great for not only single player RPGs, but for any game with many keyboard commands.

Mass Effect 2 would be a good example - with this mouse you could map squad ability hotkeys to some of its many buttons, and the ActionLock function would be great when scanning planets for resources because you have to keep the right button pressed while doing so.

One question: is the Precision Aim function of the RAT 7 mouse purely software based, or built into the device itself?  Would it be possible to use this function with the M.M.O. 7, perhaps giving the users the choice of pressing in the 5D button to activate Precision Aim, or using it as a normal button?

Hi,

Well of course there's no limitation to what you can use the M.M.O.7 with - it will work with anything that you use on your PC.

The Precision Aim function is software-based and is assigned to the press of the 5D button.  You can still program that press of the 5D button with a command of your choice and the precision aim function will still work at the same time.

I looked all over and have not found an M.M.O.7.
I really wanted this mouse and sincemy R.A.T. 7 is acting up. Plus I don't like were the aiming button is. It should be further back. I would dumped the 7 in a can and get the M.M.O in a heart beat.

I have been playing computer games since 1981. You know back when you had to program the games yourself. I have seen every mouse in the world and have used most of them. I truly think your guys have the best thing so far. PLZ keep up in the direction your going. I have like 4 other Saitek input devices. MW3 players could really be a great group of guys to show this mouse off too.
Later.

The M.M.O.7 hasn't started shipping yet - you can expect a blog post to let you know when it does!

So you don't want to sell it in Australia? That's a pity.  I wanted to buy one.

Not at present, we're afraid.  Regarding any potential shortcomings of the R7, are you actually having any problems with your R.A.T. at the moment?

How can I reverse the mousewheel action of my Contagion and Macintosh?

I assume you're using OS 10.7 (Lion).  If so then they've reversed the scroll wheel action as they're using the same gesture controls for scrolling as that on the iOS devices (where you 'push' the page up to scroll down).

Just go into your system preferences and into the mouse settings - you can reverse the scroll action in there.  Just remove the tick from "Scroll Direction: Natural".

Hello I'm an apple user and I'm currently choosing which R.A.T. to get...I'm really interested in either the albino or the contagion for gaming (but i'm leaning more towards the albino), but besides the exterior look and finish ...is there any difference between them?? is the contagion recommended for mac more than albino since its published in their market, or is it again a matter of looks??

Btw good job guys on such amazing mice Laughing

Hi,

It's purely a cosmetic difference - the Contagion has a gloss finish and the Albino has a matte finish.

Am using a new Cyborg M.M.O.7 mouse, and am trying to figure where and how I can set profile for the "pinky button" on the right side of the mouse. Doesn't seem to tell me anything on how to utilize this one button. Can someone show me a link or tell me how I can set it to function for a command in a game? Thanks!

It's a shift button - you use it to access the +Shift modes that are available for all the other buttons in the programming software.
